County Route 6 is a single-lane road in northwest Mercer County, running along ridgetops from Lashmeet to the Raleigh County line. It passes through the unincorporated community of Pinoak, and happens to be the only paved through road in the county between the corridors of WV 10 and US 19.
CR 6 was commissioned in 1933, and routed upon pre-existing infrastructure from the late nineteenth century. Its course has been unchanged since its inception.
(WV SRC, 1935, 1945)
The south terminus of CR 6 in Lashmeet is at CR 71/12, slightly south of WV 10. The southernmost leg of the highway was inadvertently omitted from WV SRC's mid-1930s Mercer County maps, through newer maps include it.
It's worth noting that this portion of WV 10 was newly built around 1932, and may not have existed yet at the time the county road numbers were assigned.
