Overview

County Route 26 is a single-lane road running parallel to Payne Branch north of Oakvale, West Virginia. The north portion of the road is unpaved, and connects to CR 9.

History

CR 26 was commissioned in 1933, and routed upon pre-existing infrastructure. The earliest topographic maps that show the route are from 1932, suggesting that the road was fairly new when it was brought into the highway system. Its course has been unchanged since its inception.
