Travels to the United Kingdom and Beyond

In late July and early August 2006, I went on a trip to and beyond the United Kingdom sponsored by Concord University (née College), an institution located in my hometown of Athens, West Virginia. I had long been enchanted by the culture and geography of both England and Scotland in spite of a lack of travel options, and when I became aware about this trip my interest was naturally piqued. Since I am a WVU student, the schematics and paperwork beforehand were a bit more complicated than they otherwise might be, but I was able to attend the trip with a group of other students and adults, and greatly enjoyed the experience.

While on my travels, I kept a journal with me in which I scrawled my thoughts, various opinions, and accounts of the places I went and things I saw on a daily basis. These chronological notes form the basis of this website.

The First Week: Arrival, treks around greater London; Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, and Hampton Court.
The Second Week: Train ride to Edinburgh; St. Andrews, St. Paul's and the Tower of London, the Kew Gardens, Oxford, and Dover.
The Third Week: Cardiff, miscellaneous sights and sounds around London, the "Paris Option," and departure.
